"EASY GREEK" SYLLABUS

Class 1: Overview, Alphabet, Pronunciation, Article:
  • Ask students why they want to learn Greek. Give/Show examples from Greek NT of how learning Greek will address their wants
    • Student wants to know why translations differ, and how to choose. Show a passage where the Greek can be translated either way, or where the textual variant allows different translations.
    • Student wants to know "formal equivalence" vs. "dynamic equivalence" reason. Show idiomatic passage.
    • Etc.
  • Go over alphabet and pronunciation. Work on letters dissimilar from English equivalents.
    • Spend time on this until everyone can read letters and diphthongs and blends.
    • Do exercise with English words spelled with Greek letters.
  • Go over Article paradigm so everyone can pronounce it and recognize forms.
  • Homework: Learn alphabet and sounds, and Article paradigm.
